Recruitment of High-School Students

The Area Health Education Center’s Health Careers Program is able to assist College of Medicine departments, centers and programs find qualified high-school students to conduct laboratory work for the summer. The AHEC office has a database of high-school students who have applied to and/or participated in a prior UK Summer Enrichment Program or Health Researchers Youth Academy. Both programs are designed to educate students on health career professions and the research aspect of health care.

Students who applied to and participated in these programs were required to submit the following: program applications, official high school transcripts, a 300-word essay, and two sealed letters of reference from a teacher, guidance counselor, or health professional. If you have a summer position for a rising high-school sophomore, junior, or senior, the UK Area Health Education Center looks forward to assisting you in finding a candidate who can fit the needs of your laboratory.
